Allowing our Nursery Children the Care to Flourish

In the Nursery, we follow the EYFS guidelines which qualify us to receive nursery grant funding for our three- and four-year-old children as laid down by the government.

Here, there are seven areas of learning and development that shape our educational programme and guide our planning ideas. Three areas are particularly crucial for igniting children’s curiosity and enthusiasm for learning, and for establishing their capacity to learn, form relationships, and flourish.

Our Seven Areas of Learning

Communication and Language
Physical Development
Personal, social and emotional development
Literacy
Mathematics
Understanding the World
Expressive Arts and Design

Emphasis is placed on active, play-based learning, with a balance of child-initiated and adult-led activities. The children engage in creative activities, songs, stories, rôle-play and physical play, and can use the secure Early Years garden for outdoor play, as well as the extensive school grounds and Forest School.
