FAQs

How early should I begin the admissions process?

We recommend beginning the admissions process as early as you can. Many families enquire a year or more in advance, but we also welcome applications throughout the year wherever places are available. Our Admissions Team is always happy to advise on current availability and the best timing for your child.

What factors are considered when offering a place?

We consider whether a child will flourish within our school environment. This includes a review of their current school report, a short age-appropriate assessment where appropriate, a meeting with senior staff and feedback gathered from the Taster Day. Our aim is always to ensure that The Downs Malvern is the right setting for your child’s learning, wellbeing and long-term development.

How can I help my child prepare for joining The Downs Malvern?

A Taster Day or visit allows them to meet teachers, make friends and explore the campus. Keeping routines steady at home and talking positively about the move also helps. Our staff will guide you through every step so your child feels ready and confident.

Can we apply mid-year if we're relocating?

Yes, we welcome applications throughout the year, particularly from families moving due to work or military postings. We ensure a smooth transition regardless of when the application is submitted.

Can international families apply?

Yes, every year we welcome international pupils from all over the world. Our Admissions team can support you through the process, including arranging virtual tours, meetings with staff and guidance on documentation. We offer boarding from Year 3 upwards, which provides a warm and supportive home-from-home for pupils joining us from overseas.

Is there a deadline to register for a place?

There’s no formal deadline, but we advise early registration due to limited spaces. Our Admissions team will be more than happy to guide you through our current availability.
