Activities in the Boarding House

Life is never dull when you are a boarder at The Downs Malvern!

During the week there are lots of activities to keep the children busy and there is a real sense of camaraderie and fun in the common rooms and around the school campus. There are weekly competitions with quiz nights, baking challenges, dance competitions, and a dedicated Sphero Coding Club.

At the weekend, trips are planned once the children have finished their Saturday hobbies and activities.  Trips have included, Drayton Manor Theme Park, an Escape Room, a day out at the seaside, shopping trips, visits to museums and restaurants, and much, much more.

The school is situated on the edge of the Malvern Hills, a 10-minute walk from the boarding house will put you at the top of the highest point in the surrounding three counties. The children enjoy exploring this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with regular walks, picnics and trips.

Just like home there's also plenty of time for the children to have downtime and relax in the comfort of their dorms or in the common rooms whether that be reading a book, listening to music, or simply chatting with their friends or members of the boarding team.

When we asked some of the current boarders how would you describe boarding at The Downs Malvern, this was their reply!

'Best place on earth!'

'Relaxing, comfortable, social'

'Sense of family'
