Building upon the foundation of independent learning and problem solving, fostered in our Early Years, we inspire the children to embrace an array of creative challenges, supporting development in collaboration, team-work and perseverance. Children push boundaries beyond mere acquisitions of knowledge and develop further the skills of enquiry.

We offer a mixed day of formal instruction within a warm, friendly atmosphere to encourage exploration and self-expression in our less-structured lessons. Year 1 is taught by Mrs Faye Hardinges and Year 2 by Mrs Alex Sigley, who also holds the position of Head of Pre-Prep. English and Mathematics are the main lessons of the morning, including a break for play. Following lunch, the afternoon programme is more relaxed and pupils experience a range of activities such as Art, Design Technology, Physical Education, Games and Science.

Transition to Year 3:

All children are expected to transfer from Year 2 to Year 3 at aged 7. Before moving, our Year 2 children are prepared for this transition. A presentation is held during the Summer Term to give parents an idea of what changes to expect as they progress into the Prep School. The Year 2 children also experience two ‘move up’ mornings, when they will work and play in the Prep School with their Year 3 teachers. As part of the transition process, Year 2 children will be taught throughout the year by specialist Prep School staff in French, Sport, Music, Art, DT and Maths.
