Cross-country at The Downs Malvern continues to go from strength-to-strength, with boys and girls regularly competing at District, County and National level.

There is an opportunity to join our weekly cross-country club throughout the Autumn and Spring terms, as well as running the various courses in Games and P.E. lessons. The weekly club offers the opportunity for our runners to experience multi-terrain courses, as well as those on flat, even terrain. We are blessed with many different courses here at The Downs Malvern, and our runners can often be seen running up to the Worcestershire Beacon at various times of the school year.

Courses are decided upon each week, dependent upon the nature of the next competition. Competitions are mainly held in the Spring Term, with a few in the Autumn Term. The season culminates in the prestigious National Prep Schools’ event held on our very own doorstep, on the Malvern Hills.

In the Summer Term, cross-country club changes to athletics club when the children train weekly for track running over a variety of distances. We celebrate many successes in cross-country competitions throughout neighbouring counties, and we gain regular trophies and medals, both for individual runners and for our Under 9, Under 11 and Under 13 boys’ and girls’ teams.
