The Governors are delighted to announce the appointment of Andy Nuttall as the Headmaster of The Downs Malvern from August 2022.
Andy, currently the Deputy Head of Windlesham House School in Sussex, graduated from Imperial College London with a degree in Zoology, completed his PGCE at Bath University and also holds an MEd in Educational Leadership and Management from Buckingham University. Before joining Windlesham House, Andy taught at Cheam School and spent four years at The Banda School in Nairobi, where he met his wife Polly who is an experienced prep school teacher. Polly and Andy have two young children who will also be joining the school. Andy’s leisure time is focussed on the outdoors: he is a keen cross country runner, enjoys fly fishing, looking after the family’s chickens and quail and gardening with his children, to list a few of his interests.
Chairman of Governors Carey Leonard said “We are very excited that Andy and his family will be joining us in August. From an impressive selection of candidates, Andy’s breadth of experience and clear passion and enthusiasm to take The Downs Malvern forward stood out. This is an exciting new chapter for our school and in warmly welcoming Andy and his family, the Governors pay tribute to all that Sam Cook has achieved during his long and successful tenure as our Headmaster. We wish Sam a happy and well deserved retirement when he steps down at the end of the Summer Term.”
Andy said “I am absolutely thrilled to be joining The Downs Malvern as Headmaster from August 2022. I was very impressed by the school during the selection process and am particularly drawn to its warm and happy family atmosphere, the delightful children, its wonderful setting as well as its membership of the growing Malvern College Family of Schools. I feel privileged to have been chosen to lead The Downs Malvern through this next exciting chapter and cannot wait to begin. Polly and I look forward to visiting during the coming months, introducing our children to the school and getting to know pupils, staff and parents. Let the adventure begin!”
