Our Year 5 pupils recently enjoyed an exciting day of automotive design as part of the Morgan Experience! A glorious sunny day provided the perfect backdrop as they began by examining a Morgan Plus Four up close, before taking part in a range of innovative design exercises. They worked with a wide variety of materials and processes, developing their own ideas and model designs before sharing them with the group. A fantastic experience that sparked plenty of imagination… and perhaps a few future designers in the making. #thedownsmalvern #STEM #designtechnology #handsonlearning #malverncollege #morgancars #malvern

A brilliant achievement for George, who was recently awarded the Inner Wheel Young Musician of the Year at the Worcestershire Arts Festival winners’ concert! Having already impressed in the Advanced Solo Piano class with an outstanding mark of 90/100, George was invited to perform at Perrins Hall during the concert. With over 1,700 competitors taking part across music and drama, this is a truly exceptional accolade and a well deserved surprise. As if that wasn’t enough, George also performed on the trumpet in the College’s Commemoration Service on the same day! A remarkable accomplishment. Congratulations, George. #thedownsmalvern #youngmusician #CelebratingSuccess #malverncollege

Amelia has enjoyed an exceptional run of equestrian success recently! Representing Great Britain at her very first international competition, she achieved an outstanding 7th place in the team event. She then went on to win both of her classes at Myerscough High Profile with two new horses, adding further international qualification scores as she works towards selection for the European Championships in Czech Republic this summer. Amelia and her pony Derano B have now been selected to represent Great Britain again at Exloo CDI in the Netherlands later this month. A remarkable achievement. Well done, Amelia! #thedownsmalvern #equestriansuccess #youngtalent

Our pupils enjoyed a fun breaktime pop-up recently with our Head Chef, Steve, who was trialling a new healthy smoothie ahead of the summer term. Made with tropical fruit and berries, with no additives or added sugar, it’s a simple way to encourage healthier choices. With a fun twist, pupils mixed the smoothie themselves using a specially adapted exercise bike! Great fun. #thedownsmalvern #HealthyEating #SchoolLife #ActiveLearning

Pupils in Years 3–6 have had a brilliant time taking part in the The Downs Malvern Science Challenge, exploring a wide range of ideas through hands-on experiments and investigations. Year 3 have been digging into dinosaurs, exploring adaptations and building some impressively fearsome junk-model creations! Meanwhile, Year 4 turned their attention to our school ecosystem, learning about pollinators, wildflowers, bug hotels and our own bee colonies, before making recycled paper to germinate seeds and create seed bombs. Year 5 explored the story of paper from Ancient China to modern watermarks, testing different materials to see which made the most absorbent handkerchief, before experimenting with paper aeroplane and helicopter designs. Year 6 explored transport and the forces involved, designing lunar rovers for tough terrain and building boats to see which could carry the heaviest marble payload before sinking. A brilliant mix of curiosity, creativity and discovery! #thedownsmalvern #independentschool #STEM #stem #youngscientist #colwall #herefordshire #malvern #worcestershire

Huge congratulations to Coco on her fantastic performance at the South West NDP Championships. After recent uncertainty around a hand injury, Coco showed real determination to compete, delivering a strong all-round performance. We are delighted to report that she has been selected as a reserve for the South Wales team at the National Finals in May. A brilliant achievement and a testament to her resilience and hard work. Well done Coco! #thedownsmalvern #pupilachievements #gymnastics

Our annual House Chess Championship unfolded over several days, bringing pupils together for some brilliantly competitive matches. In the Junior final, Dylan M (Morgan) narrowly overcame Ben S (Lewis) in a closely fought contest between two excellent players. The Years 5 & 6 final also produced a superb game, with Taiki T (Sanger) securing a masterful win against Lizzie H (Lewis), who proved a very strong opponent. In the Senior final, Arthur F-G (Morgan) defeated Luke A (Morgan) to become overall champion and will now have his name engraved on the school shield! Well done to everyone who took part and made it such an enjoyable competition. #thedownsmalvern #chess #pupilachievements

In addition to our Charity Fair, Friday also saw our Year 8 girls take on a mixed staff team in a Staff vs Pupils netball match! It was an incredibly fun and surprisingly tense game, with the girls throwing themselves into every moment. The staff team took the win by 7–3, but the Year 8s pushed them all the way with a superb and determined performance. A brilliant way to end the term, with plenty of smiles all around. 😀 #thedownsmalvern #independentschool #endofterm #netball #colwall #herefordshire #malvern #worcestershire

Once again, our House Charity Fair was a huge success! A huge amount of effort went into planning and running the stalls, and the pupils should be very proud of how well they organised themselves. Each house chose a charity with real meaning to them. Sanger House supported Alpe, Cadbury House raised funds for Guide Dogs, Morgan House for Meningitis Now, and Lewis House for St Richard’s Hospice. Prior to the fair, our Year 8 pupils spoke confidently in Friday’s assembly about their chosen charities, explaining why they matter and the impact they have. In just 45 minutes, over £600 was raised! A fantastic achievement and something the whole school community should be proud of. Thank you to everyone who donated prizes and supported the event. #thedownsmalvern #SchoolLife #Fundraising #Teamwork #Community #ProudSchool #independentschool #malvern #worcestershire #herefordshire #colwall

Thank you to our wonderful TDM Eco Team who organised our recent Jolly Jumble Sale in support of Team Water and Water Aid, the Eco Team’s chosen charity for this year.
