Entry Procedures

New pupils are invited to enrol at The Downs Malvern at any point during the academic year, across all year groups from Nursery to Year 8. In reviewing applications, we focus on how a child will thrive in our dynamic environment.

While there is no formal entrance exam, we request a copy of all prospective pupils’ last two school reports, which should include both grades and written feedback from their teachers. A reference from a pupil’s current Head Teacher may also be requested. Reports that are not in English will need to be officially translated.

The pre-acceptance Admissions process is extremely effective in conveying a sense of inclusivity and friendly individualised care, and with exceptional handling of parents and children.

Independent report

Where possible, day pupils are encouraged to attend a Taster Day, while boarders can experience an overnight stay; providing an authentic experience of school life and, importantly, a moment to gauge whether The Downs Malvern is the right fit for them.

Pupils at The Downs Malvern who have registered their interest to join our Senior School, Malvern College, can expect to receive the outcome of their application (i.e. an offer of enrolment) in the Summer Term of Year 6. Pupils who apply to join The Downs Malvern in Years 7 and 8 will therefore be invited to sit testing for Malvern College during their admissions process.
