In Year 7, pupils tackle verb conjugation, noun declension, and comprehend verb components and noun cases.

Emphasis is placed on vocabulary memorisation and proficient translation from Latin to English, focusing on grammatical nuances. Intensive sessions intertwine with stories of Classical Roman heroes, enacted for a vivid experience. During Christmas, pupils explore the holiday story in Latin and enjoy ancient Roman recipe cakes, consistently emphasising Latin’s relevance.

Year 8 maintains a rigorous and enjoyable approach, with pupils selecting a poem by Catullus, mastering Perfect and Imperfect Tenses, and learning cardinal and ordinal numbers. They translate simplified classical stories, explore Roman life, and visit the shrine of Aquae Sulis, further deepening their comprehension.
