Throughout their journey here, pupils immerse themselves in a assortment of texts, delving into 30 Bible passages from both the Old and New Testaments.

They explore the lives of inspiring figures like M.K. Gandhi, Martin Luther King, and Dietrich Bonhoeffer, alongside contemporary issues like human rights, science’s intersection with religion, environmental stewardship, social justice, prejudice, attitudes toward mortality, leadership, and wisdom.

In our ever-evolving world, understanding diverse religious views is more crucial than ever.

At The Downs Malvern, we root our Religious Studies curriculum in Christian values while embracing the rich tapestry of global beliefs.

A large congregation fills the pews of a cathedral for a service. The cathedral, often studied in Religious Studies, features high vaulted wooden ceilings, stained glass windows, and detailed archways. Attendees are engaged in singing hymns or reading from service booklets.

Beyond Christianity, Pupils delve into the core tenets of Hinduism, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, and Sikhism, with field trips to local parish churches, Malvern College, Gloucester Cathedral, the Central Mosque, and Singers Hill Synagogue in Birmingham further augmenting their understanding.

Our curriculum is meticulously designed, allowing pupils to progress steadily year by year. By the time they sit their Common Entrance exam, they’ve developed not just knowledge, but a profound respect for their local and global communities, along with a strong sense of responsibility to make a positive impact in the world.
