FAQs

How do I know if The Downs Malvern is the right fit for my child?

The best way to know if The Downs Malvern is the right fit is to experience it for yourself. A visit or Taster Day allows your child to meet teachers, explore the campus and get a feel for the school’s atmosphere. Talking with staff and seeing how your child responds will help you judge whether our approach, values and environment align with what you want for their education. We are always happy to guide families through this process.

What should we consider during our visit?

During your visit try to focus on how the school feels. Notice how staff interact with pupils, the atmosphere in classrooms, and whether children seem confident, curious and happy. Take time to explore the grounds and facilities, speak with teachers, and think about how your child might settle into the routines and opportunities on offer. A good visit should leave you with a clear sense of whether the school feels like the right place for your family.

Is it possible to speak with current parents during Open Days?

While not guaranteed, some events may possibly include opportunities to hear from current parents who can share personal experiences and insights about the school community.

Will we see the boarding facilities during the tour?

Families interested in boarding are welcome to request a guided tour of the boarding house, where staff can explain daily routines, pastoral care, and weekend life for boarders.

Can we combine our visit with a tour of Malvern College?

Many families do, especially if considering a long-term educational pathway. We recommend visiting Malvern College’s site separately and checking their open event schedule.

Are Open Days suitable for children not yet at school age?

Yes, many families begin exploring options early. Our staff are happy to discuss the nursery and pre-prep pathways for younger siblings or early-stage learners.
