We are delighted to share the findings of our latest Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) inspection, which praised The Downs Malvern for helping pupils to develop “confidence, independence, and secure foundations for the future”.
Inspectors, who visited the school in June, highlighted the “impeccable manners” of our pupils and recognised the strength of our leadership, teaching, pastoral care and wider opportunities.
The report noted that leaders place “pupils’ wellbeing at the centre of decision-making” and praised the strong relationships between staff and pupils, which help children to become enthusiastic, confident and resilient learners.
Inspectors said:
“Strong relationships between staff and pupils throughout the school ensure that pupils are enthusiastic about their learning and participate actively in lessons. They are confident to offer an answer or ask a question when they are unsure.
“Pupils show resilience and perseverance when faced with a challenging concept. Pupils take pride in their work and talk with enthusiasm about what they have learned.”
The report also recognised the quality of teaching across the school, the opportunities pupils have to apply their learning in real-life situations, and the range of leadership roles available to them.
Headmaster Andy Nuttall said: “I am delighted with the results of our latest ISI inspection, which provide a very positive reflection of life at The Downs. This is a real testament to the hard work of our pupils, staff, governors and families.
“Inspectors recognised the strength of our leadership and governance, the quality of our teaching and curriculum, and the care we provide for pupils across the school. They also highlighted the happy and welcoming character of our community, describing our pupils as confident, enthusiastic and respectful, with strong relationships between pupils and staff helping them to thrive.
“As we enter the next chapter of life at The Downs, we will continue to build on the many strengths recognised in the report and ensure every child can thrive during their time with us.”
