Summer Art Competition: The votes are in!

Summer Art Competition: The votes are in!

63 ‘ewe-nique’ creations responding to the theme of ‘Farm Animals’ were entered this year. Amongst the crazy titles given to this year’s submissions were: ‘A Rainbow Pig Visiting a Butterfly Farm’, ‘It’s not Baaaad’, ‘Sheep Explosion’, ‘Lima the Llama’ and ‘Mustacchio’.

Prizes were awarded based on the most votes received, with every pupil in the Prep School picking their three favourite works of art, and we were also delighted to receive over seventy votes from grandparents as part of our recent Grandparents’ Day! Interestingly, when all votes were totted up, our pupils’ choices tallied precisely with that of the grandparents!

In addition, two guest adjudicators, Mr Josh Sigley, an ex-Downs pupil and a current student of architecture, and Dr Elizabeth Haines, a professional artist, were invited to select two further prize-winners. We would like to thank Mr Sigley and Dr Haines for their insight.

Thank you to all the children for their amazing work which can be viewed on display in the Memo Hall and in the gallery below. Following an announcement of the winners in assembly, wonderful art materials prizes were awarded to the following lucky children…
