After the original date was postponed due to poor weather, The Downs Malvern’s rescheduled Sports Day took place on Saturday 13th June in glorious sunshine, providing the perfect setting for one of the highlights of the school calendar.
Pupils from Cadbury, Lewis, Sanger and Morgan gave their all throughout the day, with an impressive level of competition across the track and field events. From sprints and relays to shot put, long jump, high jump, three-legged races and more, there was no shortage of energy, enthusiasm and determination.
As always, Sports Day was about much more than results alone. It was wonderful to see pupils supporting one another, showing excellent sportsmanship and representing their Houses with pride.
This year’s event was, however, also particularly memorable thanks to an incredible number of new school records being set across a range of age groups and events.
New records included:
- U11 1200m Boys: Hugo, 4m 32s
- U11 1200m Girls: Esme, 4m 58s
- U13 Girls Discus: Amaya, 17.94m
- U11 Girls High Jump: Alba, 1.22m
- U13 Girls 95m: Fleur, 13.68s
- U11 75m Boys: Hugo, 11.96s
- U11 75m Girls: Millie, 12.16s
- U9 70m Boys: Theo, 12.21s
- U9 70m Girls: Isabella, 11.96s

- U12 Hurdles Girls: Peggy, 15.93s
- U13 Hurdles Boys: Isaac, 14.49s

A huge well done to every pupil who took part and helped make the day such a fantastic celebration of sport, and to all the staff involved in making the event possible once again, from those judging and organising events to the catering, medical and grounds teams.
