Simon joined The Downs Malvern in 2008, having been Head of Art at Hillstone Malvern College Prep since 1995. Prior to that, he taught at Bedford School and The Corsham School in Bath, and takes great pride in seeing former pupils develop their own creative paths.
His love of art was first sparked at school through the work of Marc Chagall, which led to an Art Scholarship, a Fine Art degree, and a bursary to study at the British School in Rome, a formative experience that deepened his appreciation of Italian painting.
Simon finds endless inspiration in the beauty of The Downs Malvern’s surroundings, with walks on the Malvern Hills often offering fresh creative perspectives. For Simon, the Art Studio is a place of imagination and possibility, where pupils surprise and inspire him daily, and where teaching remains a vital part of his own artistic journey.
