Jon joined The Downs Malvern in 2014, having previously spent fifteen years working in factual television. Although he thrived in the fast-paced media world, his true calling lay in education, and after retraining at the University of Worcester, he hasn’t looked back.
He is now a dedicated and versatile member of the teaching staff, serving as a Year 3 class tutor while also teaching Science to pupils in Years 7 and 8. Jon thrives on the variety of school life, whether in the classroom, the lab, or leading the much-anticipated annual school trip.
He is particularly passionate about bringing STEM subjects to life, and loves using The Downs Malvern’s very own steam railway as a hands-on tool for learning. Jon’s approach blends creativity, curiosity, and care, encouraging pupils to ask questions, explore ideas, and discover the excitement that learning can bring, both in and beyond the classroom.
