In Nursery and Reception we make learning fun.

"Early Years .... where the fun never ends and the learning begins! We pride ourselves on providing an active, fun and enabling environment full of opportunities to think critically, problem solve and learn. A place where what makes us unique helps us thrive and positive relationships commence." Mrs Louise Hannis - Reception Teacher.

Seven areas of learning and development that shape our educational programme and guide our planning ideas.

Our nursery and reception programs follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) guidelines, which shape our educational program and guide our planning ideas. The EYFS provision at The Downs Malvern is designed to promote the development of young children and prepare them for school.

Our Seven Areas of Learning:

  • Communication and Language
  • Physical Development
  • Personal, social and emotional development
  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding the World
  • Expressive Arts and Design

These areas are fundamental to igniting children's curiosity and enthusiasm for learning, and establishing their capacity to learn, form relationships, and flourish.

We provide a purpose-built private day nursery facility that offers a homely environment for children aged three and four. We prioritise active, play-based learning, with a balance of child-initiated and adult-led activities. Our highly-qualified staff engage children in creative activities, songs, stories, role-play, and physical play, fostering a love of learning and exploration.

Our purpose-built facilityis a home from home with various outdoor spaces where children can explore, interact with nature, and enjoy physical activity. The outdoor play area is designed to promote active play and imaginative exploration. It is a safe and secure environment that allows children to have fun and learn while getting fresh air and exercise.
